6 month follow-up
Chef had his six month follow-up with his neurologist yesterday. The appointment went really well, like we thought it would. Chef has been doing really well lately. His flair-ups are few and far between at the moment. He is doing more and more activity all the time. We talked about his running and the fact he fell playing softball. The doctor actually encouraged him to keep trying to run. That though he struggles right now running is a very complex action involving a lot of systems. The kicker is you can retrain yourself to run again. It takes a while and lots of patience because nerves don't begin firing the way the used to overnight, it takes time. He many never be as fast as he used to be or run as far, but he can and will run better again! This is so encouraging. I am a runner and would love to be able to get out and run with him (encouragement for both of us). He will have to start easy and on soft surfaces. We plan on hitting some local soccer fields soon.

Hey Denise,
We have a neighbor who was diagonsed with MS about 15 years ago. He was a runner as well. It took him awhile to be able to run again but he has been running everyday for at least the last 10 years (that's how long I have known them :) ). He runs marathons as well. Good Luck with the training!
Thanks Jennifer! He is doing really well right now, no running yet though. He did give me permission the other day to buy a treadmill! We will see what the winter and future holds.
