the cold
Lately it's been very cold here. We have discovered that with MS that this creates issues. When Chef is inside he does well. However when he goes out and comes back in or vice versa issues start to arise. Chef had been doing really well, feeling as though his symptoms were really under control until this cold snap. Since it has become bitterly cold his symptoms have began to increase. No new symptoms which is good, just a flare up in the old symptoms. His left arm and hand have been having functioning problems again. This creates many issues for him at work and in daily life since he is left handed. The new knowledge that temperature has such an effect on his symptoms is a huge revelation. We had no idea that this would occur. The doctor had never mentioned that this may happen. We had been doing research about how and when symptoms would come and go. There was nothing about trying to manage your environment in terms of temperature. Once we began to feel that there may be a correlation we began specific research and there is was "try to avoid extreme changes in temperature either hot or cold". Again we will have to adjust our lives so that we can try to decrease relapse incidents. Temperature at least is a manageable variable.
